Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’ is an herbaceous perennial that is a beautiful addition to a border or rock garden.

First introduced at RHS Chelsea in 2010, it was an instant hit and has been used at the show every year since thanks to its intense peachy-orange flowers.

It forms a low mound of attractive foliage with tall, thin flower spikes each with a few of the inch wide fiery orange flowers held with a nodding habit. The plant is sterile so it will not self seed across the garden but will increase in size each year forming clumps that can be divided.

The flowers bloom between spring and autumn, making it a long flowering and reliable option for any garden.

Growing Guide

Planting

Plant in full sun in moist, fertile well drained soil. It is fully hardy, tolerates all types of soil as long as compost or manure is added. ‘Totally Tangerine’ will thrive in both sheltered and exposed positions. Avoid planting in an area which suffers from waterlogged soil in winter.

Watering

Geum generally requires moderate and consistent watering. Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. Water at the base to prevent wetting the foliage which can invite disease. During dry spells increase watering frequency.

Pruning

Deadhead in autumn after flowering has finished. Remove all of the old stem, not just the faded flower on top.

Geum ‘Totally Tangerine’ is easy to grow and provides a beautiful display of flowers from May to October. Although its stems can reach up to 30 centimetres in height, it is self supporting and does not need staking.
